Privacy Policy

Knots ("the app") is built to keep sensitive processing on your device wherever possible, and to ask for no more than it needs. We do not sell your personal data.

Your account

Knots uses Sign in with Apple to create a lightweight account. This keeps your Knots Premium subscription, settings, and prayer streaks in sync if you use the app on more than one device.

What stays on your device

• Location: used to compute prayer times and qibla on your device.
• Microphone & speech: the waking du'a is recognised with on-device speech recognition. The audio itself is not uploaded.
• Camera & photos: the sink-matching feature compares an on-device image signature. Your photos are not uploaded.
• Prayer history & streaks: stored on your device, and synced to your account if you're signed in.

Analytics

We use PostHog to understand how Knots is used, which features people rely on and where the wake ritual breaks down, so we can improve the app. This is product-usage analytics: it does not include the content of your recitation, your camera image, or your exact location.

These events are processed in the European Union and are not linked to your account or identity. They carry a randomly generated device-level identifier only — we never attach your Apple ID, your name or your email to them, and they are not used for advertising or shared with data brokers. Which prayers you marked, the times themselves and your prayer history are not sent.

Purchases

Subscriptions are processed by Apple. We use RevenueCat to validate subscription status; this involves a pseudonymous app-generated identifier and purchase receipt data, never your name or location. See RevenueCat's privacy policy.
